Can I use my iPod while charging via computer USB port?

Yes, you can listen to the iPod while it's charging. You don't need to disable Disk mode either. When you plug in the iPod, it'll mount as a disk. Just unmount the disk and they you'll have access to your menus and can listen to your music.

If you're listening to your music and you plug the iPod into the computer, the music will stop. I'm guessing if you plug it into the wall charger, it'll just charge and the music will keep playing.

An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly

Try this if you're on a PC:

1. Right click on my computer and select manage. 2. Click on Disk management 3. Find your iPod 4. Right click on it, select "Change drive letter or path" (something like that) 5. Give your iPod a higher drive letter

This happens sometimes when you use other USB drives on your computer, like thumb drives. They take the drive letter assigned to your iPod. Itunes expects your iPod to be at, for example, j: but something else is there. It doesn't recognize it, or it gives you the "I've found an ipod in restore mode" error and you try to complete restore, and it doesn't work.
